Care Quality Commission The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has
been responsible since April 2009 for the inspection of all care services and health services including hospitals.
CQC took over the functions of the former Commission for Social Care Inspection, which dealt only with social care,
not health. Our
first inspection by the CQC was carried out in July last year. It was a “key” inspection,
where seven different aspects of care home services are evaluated. The report is now being published.
We are delighted that every aspect of our services was rated as “good”: The report states: “The Quality
rating for this service is 2 star. This means that the people who use this service experience
good quality outcomes.”
All services were required to submit information to re-register
with the Care Quality Commission. We have done this and have been registered as a care provider for elderly people with
the CQC. We have developed our facilities and are now able to offer care for people with dementia. .
Name changeOur name is now Delph House Care Home and
the former name is no longer in use. This name is more local and is easier to use than the old one.Residents ActivitiesTrips outMaking the most of the few sunny days left, the
residents at Delph House enjoyed the marquee that was erected in the gardens, sitting with a few drinks and some nibbles.
The mini bus is also up and running after it was refurbished at the beginning
of the summer and the residents have enjoyed visiting a number of tea rooms and points of interest around the county each
week; such as the quay side at Kings Lynn and the garden centre and café at Downham Market. The residents are especially looking forward to attending the harvest songs of praise in October at the
Outwell Methodist church. IndoorsWe have also celebrated a few of the residents’ birthdays
over the past couple of months, for each of which a party was held with party food, birthday cakes made by our cook Kathy
using the free range eggs from our chickens, and a few drinks. Now that the weather is cooling down, Liz
our activities organiser has been running a number of indoor activities to keep everybody busy. These include games of carpet
bowls, jigsaw puzzles and bingo. Day Opportunities
