The autonomy of the individual should be the key to both making decisions about everyday issues and in determining the
major direction of his or her life.
Independence
Staff working with our residents should enhance the confidence and competence of each individual helping her or him to
do things for her/himself whenever possible.
Participation
Residents should whenever possible be helped to maintain and develop friendships and relationships with each other, and
in the community beyond the home.
Respect
Residents should be treated with respect by all staff and by visiting service providers.
Fulfilment
Residents should as far as possible and as far as they wish lead meaningful, purposeful and active lives.
